Welcome to the September newsletter from the team at Limited Editions

Spring 2005, and this is the second issue of our email newsletter – or should we call it the Election Special – give your vote to Limited Editions this spring!

Seriously, we have some wonderful new products, lots of great new fabrics, and several really relaxing and comfortable new sofas on the way.

2005 is proving to be an interesting year. We are privileged to be the company providing the new curtains for the Beehive, and we are also working on some exciting new apartment and housing projects.

So what's new?


We start with an old favourite from the 60’s and 70’s – Marimekko - the famous Finnish fabrics.

Marimekko was founded in 1951, with a vision of creating something new and beautiful for post war Finland.

By the 60’s and 70’s Marimekko had become an iconic symbol of the post war generation, and today a whole new group of young people are
rediscovering these wonderful contemporary fabrics.

Limited Editions has been chosen as a key outlet in Wellington. Come in and see a good selection of samples in our fabric library, with more to come.

Shutters within budget!
Ever dreamed of having internal shutters and then found they were outside your budget?

Shutters have just become more affordable, as Santa Fe Shutters have become the NZ agent for the world’s largest shutter company. Limited Editions is the Wellington agent.

The shutters come in a wide variety of blade sizes and a full range of cedars; stained basswood, painted basswood and painted ASB for bathrooms and other wet areas. Contact one of our design staff or Tom Silcock, our installer.

A real hit!
The Florence loose covered sofa is proving to be a real hit in Auckland.

Jo Smither of Profile Furniture has updated an old favourite to provide real comfort – squashy loose filled cushions with feather backs, and an easy loose cover.

Our first Florence is due to arrive, along with a new 3 seater Edition covered in a white cotton damask, and our other new sofa, the Portobello.

Well priced and well made - and they meet our test of being enduring classic designs.

Fabrics, fabrics fabrics
…………as usual there are so many new fabrics to choose from, but of course we have our favourites.

This spring Designers Guild is releasing a very strong print collection ……… Samarkand is full of beautiful, open contemporary florals. These are joined by more stunning cut velvets, amazing wallpapers – even flocks, and of course luscious silks.

At the other end of the spectrum there are French stripes from Madder and Rouge which we love for their honesty and unusual colour combinations, and Romo is starring with the Kenzan collection.

Mokum has released Grandiflora collection, put together by Stephanie Moffat, and there are many stylish new linens and textures, more sheers and new taffetas.

We’ve just ordered Contemporary II, another collection of the eye catching feature papers which took this venerable old company into the style pages of Time magazine in 2004.

Interior design resource
Over the last few months we have changed a few things to better reflect the fact that today Limited Editions is primarily an interior design resource, rather than a retail showroom.

Our Design Studio is now completely open to the fabric library, which gives the showroom a more relaxed, workshop feel, and we’ve also brought quite a lot of our furniture covered in white canvas up into the main showroom.

The Christmas rush.............
A word about the Christmas rush. These days we all seem quite a bit more relaxed about Christmas.

BUT, if you are wanting to complete any interior project in time for Christmas, please do not delay. Some furniture companies close their books for pre Christmas orders in October, and as we all know it takes a while to make the decisions before placing any orders.

We can usually take orders for curtains and blinds until late November but, again, fabrics take time to arrive. So please avoid pre-Christmas stress and contact us as soon as possible.
