The Story of a Project
The beauty of being an interior designer is that every day and
every project is different. Our days are full of endless opportunities
for creativity and problem solving, which make life enjoyable and
stimulating.
However, every now and then a standout project comes along - one
that really allows us to make a huge difference. Earlier this year
Limited Editions completed just such a project and we thought we
would share this with you.
Our client had purchased a penthouse apartment built in the early
70’s. It was in its original state and looking very tired.
Our brief was to redesign the space and make it into a thoroughly
modern home. Our client also wanted a state of the art sound system
throughout, which needed to be discreetly stored, a cook's kitchen,
a room for her craft hobbies as well as storage.
Here are several 'before' and 'after' photos

As you can see, kitchen space has been incorporated into the spacious
redesigned living space which now takes advantage of the panoramic
views over the hills, city and harbour.
Although the new kitchen has almost its original footprint
careful planning ensured that it houses everything our client requested
from easy access corners to wide soft closing drawers and workable
bench and serving areas.

Housing our client's loved collection of Lladro was a critical
part of the brief.
Custom designed and built joinery in the hall provide storage
to display the Lladro and to cleverly hide Soundline’s
home entertainment system as well.

This project clearly illustrates the benefits to be
gained from using a professional interior designer. Limited Editions
is the only residential interior design company in Wellington which
offers a complete range of design services in house.
Our designers work together as a team which ensures that the spatial
design and the more decorative elements are considered together.
We also make sure that the finishing touches are under our control.
Installation of furniture and furnishings is often done by contractors
working on a contract rate. At Limited Editions, Tom Silcock, who
is a member of our team, is in charge of all installations and he
does not leave until the job is right. It makes all the difference.
We will leave the last word to our client:
“What a project – a 70’s apartment needing
a complete makeover – and a significant down sizing challenge
for the owner. Only one thing to do, call in the Dream Team from
Limited Editions. What can I say – Frances and Claire were
amazing – they listened, they understood my wants/needs/budget
constraints – what was negotiable and what was not –
delivered an outstanding interior design, including a brilliant
kitchen, a sublime colour scheme which is so easy to live with -
they introduced top performing tradespeople – from cabinet
makers, floor layers, carpet layers, painters – not a detail
was overlooked – and all delivered on schedule. A 100% satisfied
customer!!!”
