What's new for 2009?
I visited Maison et Objet in Paris in January, and I’m pleased
to say New Zealand is well and truly up with the all the trends.
The fabrics, wall coverings and accessories were more colourful
than they were 12 months ago, but other than that, there were few
major changes.
Moss greens were everywhere, and over scaled designs were still
very much in evidence, especially for outdoor design. The image
on the right, from the new Designers Guild Manhattan Collection,
illustrates this green well with an eclectic look.
Perhaps the most comforting aspect of it all, was
that New Zealand now has its own very clear style, with strong influences
from our land, sea and light, so we no longer feel the need to follow
the European trends unless they suit us and our lifestyle. Nice.
As always, all the new fabric and wallpaper collections
will be available here from February and March, so if you have seen
something you like in an overseas magazine, rest assured we will
have it very soon.

I often get calls from long standing
customers who have not needed furnishings since we moved to
the studio, asking me “what we do these days”.
I am delighted to tell them that Limited Editions does everything
it has always done……. and more!
We still provide the best interior design service
in town to help you choose colours, flooring, furniture and
furnishings, and we still make beautiful curtains and blinds,
cushions, bedding.
We also design alterations and renovations,
kitchens, bathrooms and laundries, beautiful libraries, wall
units, and fitted furniture of all kinds. |
| The bookshelves above were designed by Frances
Hussell and installed in a narrow room in a turn of the century
villa. |
So when you need help with the interior of your home,
please call us. Everything is fully guaranteed, and we will be delighted
to help you. Make an appointment today.
Cleaning and Maintenance
for your furnishings
Limited Editions has several services which many of our customers
find invaluable. We thought we should tell you about them:
• Cleaning – we remove your curtains and blinds, have
them cleaned and reinstall them.
• Repairs – if repairs are required before cleaning,
we arrange this.
• Re-upholstery – don’t forget we have a wonderful
re-upholstery service, which can breathe new life into your old
furniture. We also do loose covers.
• Relining and refurbishment – maybe you have curtains
in a fabric you love, which look a bit tired, even though the fabric
still has years of life. Our expert staff will come and assess them
for you and suggest ways to bring them up to date. This may involve
cleaning, new linings, different headings, or new tracks or rods.
All work is quoted as usual, and you can rely on us to give you
honest advice – if something is really past its Use by Date
we will tell you.
If you would like something cleaned or refurbished, please call
your usual Limited Editions Designer or Tom Silcock on 4734220 or
email tomsilcock@limitededitions.co.nz

Colour for the Year
Pantone, the global authority on colour and provider of professional
colour standards for the design industry has selected 'Mimosa',
a warm, engaging yellow, as the Colour of the Year for 2009.
It was selected for the view that the world is in a time
of economic and political change and for the fact that yellow
more than any other colour represents optimism, hope and reassurance.
|
"The colour yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality
of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance,"
explains Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color
Institute®. "Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it
is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation."
As an aside, I note that not only is it predicted to be the colour
of the year for interiors, but also for fashion. So watch those
catwalks.
We look forward to seeing you soon
With best regards

Claire and all the Limited Editions team
