NEWSLETTER CHRISTMAS 2008

Welcome to the Limited Editions Christmas 2008 newsletter

2008 is nearly over and the summer holidays beckon. Christmas and New Year with family and friends will be a well earned break and a chance to enjoy the beach, the lakes, and the wonderful summer weather. Or maybe just relax at home for the first time in a while.

If you are like me, then a pile of books will be by your side – biography, New Zealand history and some new books on colour and design. I’ll also try out some new recipes, as well as cook some old favourites.

We decided to go international with our newsletter pictures of Christmas – the spectacular lighting of the Coliseum, an amazing tree in the Basque region of Spain, and finally a tree in Murano glass. Enjoy these beautifully designs which are borrowed from the MSN site.

2009 will be an interesting year. When the economy turns sour, we all want to make our home a real haven and pampering becomes important. So while we know that 2009 will be challenging, we also think that there will be lots of opportunities to help our customers improve their homes in a variety of ways.

Interior design advice makes a great Christmas present for family and friends, so why not give a Limited Editions gift voucher?

To arrange a voucher please email annagibbs@limitededitions.co.nz or call 04 4734220

Great mix of old and new!

Here is lovely setting with two Georgian chairs teamed with a contemporary sofa and table.

The chairs and sofa are upholstered in washable white leather. These are by a very clever Canadian designer Patricia Gray.

It's a great mix of old and new, with stunning black and white cushions.

A quote from a wonderful blog by two clever people, Carrie and Danielle

The Divine Law of The Great Chair.

When you let go of things you don’t love, you create space for things that you do love to show up.

EVEN IF: it’s “useful”, it’s filling an “empty” place, it was a gift, it was inherited, expensive, imported, exotic, or you truly loved it once upon a time -– if you don’t like something in your space, it’s dragging you down. This isn’t about old, or new, or what you can afford – this is about how STUFF makes you FEEL.

For the New Year - Identify the “old chair(s)” in your life that you’re making do with, and get rid of it. You may have to sit on floor cushions for while, but you’ll be dwelling in possibility – instead of compromise and regret.

Clever Use of Mirrors

A fireplace is often one of the focal points in a home for a mirror. It can cleverly reflect other areas within the room, make the room seem larger and create atmosphere.

Here’s a great variation on the theme of putting a mirror over the fireplace – put one each side.

This terrific picture is from a hotel in Florence, JK Place, but wouldn’t this look amazing in one of Wellington’s old villas?

Finally we wish you all a wonderful Christmas and a very Happy New Year. Limited Editions will be closing on 22nd December, and some of us will be back on the 5th of January.

We look forward to working with you in 2009.

With best regards

Claire and all the Limited Editions team
