MONTHLY UPDATE MARCH 2010

Tips, New Collections and a Tour...

This year Limited Editions will celebrate 30 years in business ( more on that later) so, in this first newsletter for 2010, I thought it would be a good time to list some tips, mostly gained through our years of experience.

Interior design is an industry that offers new challenges every day and no two jobs are ever the same. However some things do not change, so here are a few tips to think about when you are planning your project. I will try to include more in future newsletters.

• Before you start anything, assess how you like to live – formal or informal; family or no family; neutrals or colours; traditional or contemporary? Be honest! It’s your home and it should suit you, rather than everyone else.
• Establish your design brief before you start choosing any items. Make sure you are clear about your aims, priorities and any restrictions
• Think carefully about budget – and stick to it!
• Pay for some advice from a well regarded interior designer. Choose someone you feel comfortable with, who is practical as well as creative, and make sure you discuss budget with them so they can help you achieve the look you want without breaking the bank.

New Collections
It’s March and as usual there are lots of new fabric and wallpaper collections. Designers Guild has released the Pavilion Collection of floral and geometric prints.

These include Nantucket, a book of gorgeous stripes; Cassan Weaves; and Barcelona, the second in their collection of Metropolitan prints. The Nabucco wallcoverings are a stunning mix of plains, stripes, and florals which look hand drawn.

We also like the Hurricane collection from Andrew Martin – a giant book of weaves in naturals, browns and blacks, and we love Cole and Son’s beautiful wallpapers. Our most recent book is full of amazing feature panels. Still to come is a wonderful collection from Jim Thompson which I saw in Paris in January. Marvellous aged linen prints which will suit older homes where anything that looks too new would be out of place.

Our 30th Birthday is coming up in a few months. We are planning something special for customers only– so watch this space, and keep an eye on the mail!

Our website tips for the start of 2010.
If you are interested in New Zealand art, do visit www.milfordgalleries.co.nz, the website for this well established company which showcases the best NZ has to offer through their galleries in Dunedin and Queenstown.

Look too at Avid Gallery – www.avidgallery.co.nz, Wellington dealers in NZ contemporary applied art and handmade jewellery.

The NZ House and Garden Tours 2010
And finally, The NZ House and Garden Tours 2010 – the Wellington tour is on Friday 19 March with tickets available still from Ticketmaster. This is a wonderful opportunity to support The Cancer Society, and have a great day out.

With best wishes
